Watched John Wick last night. Impression: I think they are trolling us.

Plot: What appears to be a normal guy looses his wife. Stricken with grief, encounters a Russian mobster at a gas station who wants his car. He says no. Mobster shows up in the middle of the night, kills his dog and steals his car.

That was the first 5-10 minutes. The remainder of the next 2 hours is crazy bloody violence with the dude whose wife and dog dead and car stolen killing everyone. There is no more plot. Dude had his dog killed and car stolen, then kills everyone for two hours.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching it. But the I get the feeling that the production team sat back and said “how little story can we actually inject into a movie and still have people watch it." Fucking trolls.

There’s no trolling, they were very up front and honest at every step of the way about that being the case. There’s no pretense of substantial plot and it’s completely devoid of artistic intent, yet in and of itself that honesty is poetic, almost artistic in and of itself.

The movie was John Wick (the unstoppable object) vs the spoiled mobster kid’s father (immovable object). Wick wants to kill the spoiled kid, the dad says no, Wick says he will kill the kid with or without his permission, the dad says he’ll stop him. The movie then followed this plot.

It isn’t like Wick just went around killing random people, he was killing people that were trying to stop him from avenging his dog/car/ himself being nearly beaten to death. Wick associated the puppy with his wife, so in his mind, the mobster killed his wife.

Normal guy? Uhhhh...did you miss the entire part that explains how he was a former mob assassin?

I loved the movie though.
